Step 1: Preparation is Key
Read Instructions: Carefully read the entire instruction leaflet included in your kit before starting.
Protect: Apply a protective cream or petroleum jelly around your hairline, ears, and neck to prevent skin irritation.
Section Hair: Divide your clean, dry hair into four even sections using a fine-tooth comb (front, back, and two sides). Secure each section with a clip.
Step 2: Apply the Curl Softening Gel (Step 1)
Mix: If your kit requires mixing, follow the exact instructions for the Curl Softening Gel.
Apply: Starting from the back sections, apply the Curl Softening Gel (or Perm Lotion) quickly and evenly, working from the roots to the ends. Ensure complete saturation of each strand, but do not apply directly to the scalp.
Processing Time: Set your timer according to the instructions in your kit and your hair’s texture. Do not exceed the maximum recommended time. This step softens your natural curl pattern
Step 3: Roll the Hair
Rod Selection: While the softening gel is on your hair (within the processing time), begin rolling your hair onto your plastic styling rods/rollers. The size of the rods determines the size of your curls.
Technique: Take small, even sections of hair and roll them smoothly and firmly from the ends up to the scalp. Secure each rod.
Complete: Continue until all hair is rolled.
Step 4: Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse (with rods still in): Once the processing time is complete, rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water while the rods are still in. Rinse for at least 5-10 minutes until all traces of the Curl Softening Gel are removed and the water runs clear. This is crucial!
Blot: Gently blot excess water from your rolled hair with a towel
Step 5: Apply the Neutraliser (Step 2)
Saturate: Apply the Neutraliser evenly to all the rolled sections of your hair, ensuring every rod and strand is completely saturated.
Processing Time: Allow the Neutraliser to process for the time specified in your kit, usually 10-15 minutes. This step stops the chemical action and locks in your new curl pattern
Step 6: Final Rinse & Remove Rods
Rinse (with rods still in): After the Neutraliser processing time, rinse your hair again thoroughly with warm water for several minutes while the rods are still in.
Remove Rods: Carefully unroll and remove all the styling rods from your hair.
Final Rinse: Perform one last rinse of your now curled hair to ensure all product residue is gone.
Step 7: Condition & Style
Condition: Apply the FREE BLM Curls Curl Activating Lotion or a conditioning treatment from the kit to moisturise your newly formed curls.
Style: Gently towel dry and style your beautiful new curls as desired. You can air dry or use a diffuser on a low heat setting.
Enjoy your vibrant, bouncy, and conditioned curls!
